Key Vocabulary, Concepts and Recommended Reading

Impact Statement Autumn 2025

PE at Homerswood continues to use Get Set 4 PE to provide our curriculum with structured lessons, which build on each other throughout each year group in a spiral curriculum. The use of vocabulary ladders and assessment pyramids are still useful to supplement the plans and support teachers to understand what the children have previously covered, what will be added and what is yet to come.

As well as the two hours of curriculum each week, each class has been supported throughout the term alongside our school games officer and school game co-ordinators from Monks Walk. Many children and classes have received support in their lessons or have attended local events. Whilst others have had either Monks Walk or our own Year 6 sports leaders supporting them during lessons or at break and lunch times. We our maintaining our pledge to 60 active minutes for every child each day.

Our data is positive as follows:

EYFS Physical Development

PRE: 4.3%(2) WTS: 40.4%(19) EXS: 55.3%(26)

KS1 Data

PRE: 5.5%(3) WTS: 10.9%(6) EXS: 83.6%(46)

KS2 Data

PRE: 1.8%(2) WTS: 8.8%(10) EXS: 71.1%(81) GDS: 18.4%(21)

In particular, to highlight our EXS data in KS1 being 84% and KS2 being 71% are high proportions to demonstrate our dedication to PE. We will continue to support the WTS children to reach EXS and extend and challenge some of the EXS to reach their full potential at GDS where possible.

Next steps:

- Continue to develop Year 6 sports leaders, both at break and lunch times and where possible during other classes lessons, to support in skill development and share their love for PE.

Ensure class teachers are confident in who their WTS children are and strategies (such as STEP principle) are implemented to support them to progress.

- Support EYFS in ensuring their gross and fine motor skills are supported and developed before reaching KS1.

Continue utilising school games mark and our local partnership opportunities for all ages to encourage all to participate and have a wider range of access to sports.

Impact Statement Summer 2025

As we come to the end of the academic year, we can celebrate our achievements in PE from our retained Gold school sports award. This displays how our curriculum, extra-curricular and all round commitment to sports and PE at Homerswood excels. We continue to use Get Set 4 PE for our curriculum, providing 2 hours of PE for KS1 and KS2 each week. This also allows us to use resources and ideas such as active blasts, active families, healthy lifestyles and sports leader games to build on achieving 60 active minutes for all.

Our Sports premium can be seen on the school website, which displays how we have carefully spent this throughout the year to develop multiple areas such as developing staff knowledge and learning in CPD opportunities, encouraging all to participate regularly, increase the profile of PE and sport and broaden the range of activities accessed at Homerswood.

Next steps:

● We will continue to participate in school games events and events ran by our SSCO, but will develop further opportunities for participation and competition through intra-school games led by sports leaders (individual/year group/houses).

● Develop staff confidence, knowledge and skills through integrating staff CPD opportunities.

● Subject lead and sports leaders to audit and organise all resources and equipment in PE cupboard and sports shed to ensure everything is accessible and in good condition.

● Continue to monitor and keep track of the sports premium for the next academic year each term.

Impact Statement Spring 2025

PE and sport has continued to be taught and accessed across the school. We are continuing to use the ‘Get Set 4 PE’ scheme of work with a revised whole school outline for the year. Each year group from 1-6 is continuing to receive two hours a week of PE across two units from the scheme (Early Years 1 hour). We also experienced a wide variety of sporting events and activities throughout partnership with Monks Walk, including visits in to the school for targeting workshops with some classes.

Sports Premium has continued to be carefully thought out and spent in a variety of ways. This is currently being reported within the ‘Evidencing the Impact of the Primary PE and Sports Premium’ action plan.

Sports leaders in Year 6 have continued to run activities during playtimes and lunchtimes this year, which supports the development of team building and problem solving skills, as well as utilising the skills children have learnt within their PE lessons. Each class has also continued their daily ‘Active Blasts’ to support physical and mental wellbeing.

Equipment has continued to be monitored and replenished where necessary with the hope of completing a larger scale audit in summer term.

Sports week has been carefully planned and organised, with a variety of activities, sports and visitors scheduled across the week.

Next Steps:

The delivery of units using our scheme ‘Get Set 4 PE’ will continue across the school. Coverage will still be monitored to ensure gaps are filled.

Stuart and Shaun from Monks Walk will continue to run their sessions.

To continue to run sports events through Monks Walk.

Subject leaders to gain staff and pupil voice regarding the scheme of work and to ensure they are confident and happy with delivery. Organise any relevant CPD for staff if they would like support.

Equipment audit to ensure all resources and equipment are ready to support lessons and activities.

To finalise preparations for sports week.
