Impact Statement Spring 2026

During the Spring Term, music has continued to play a vital role in enriching pupils’ cultural understanding, creativity, and confidence across the school.

A key highlight of the term was the Spring Soirée, which provided pupils with a valuable opportunity to perform in a supportive and celebratory environment. Children showcased their developing instrumental and vocal skills, demonstrating increased confidence, stage presence, and pride in their achievements. The event also strengthened links with families and the wider school community, celebrating the importance of music as a shared experience.

Within the primary curriculum, pupils have engaged with a broad and balanced programme of musical learning. They have explored rhythm, pitch, notation, composition, and appraisal through a range of genres and cultural contexts. Progression is evident across year groups, with pupils building on prior knowledge and developing greater musical vocabulary and understanding. Practical music-making remains central, ensuring pupils experience music actively through singing, playing instruments, and composing.

The school choir has continued to thrive this term, with regular rehearsals developing pupils’ vocal technique, ensemble skills, and musicality. Choir members have shown commitment and enthusiasm, contributing positively to performances and school events. Participation in choir has supported pupils’ confidence, teamwork, and sense of belonging.

Overall, music provision this term has had a positive impact on pupils’ engagement, wellbeing, and personal development. Pupils are increasingly confident performers, thoughtful listeners, and creative musicians. Opportunities such as performances and extracurricular activities continue to enhance the curriculum and foster a lifelong appreciation of music.

Choir worked hard for their performance at Wembley. They were part of a large choir to sing as part of Young Voices. The children prepared the songs and dances and we were super proud of them. Thanks goes to our families for supporting us again – thank you!

We have also been treated to a super Spring Soiree from Year 3 and Year 4. The Spring Soiree is an opportunity for us to see what the children are getting up to as part of our Music Curriculum. Highlights included, 3 part singing, a variety of rounds and of course their unique Ukulele skills. Families enjoyed joining in with one of the final songs.

At our Easter Service, Year 6 performed Dona Nobis. It is a pentatonic piece with counter melodies. They worked hard and it was a pleasure to see how hard they have worked. Great job Year 6.
