Year 4

The Year 4 team consists of Miss Garoghan and Mrs Mills. 
We are really excited for the new school year and are ready to get started. We look forward to showing you all of our wonderful learning and seeing all of our progress this year.

Summer Term

 

Welcome to the Summer term, our final term in Year 4. We have even more exciting learning including Earthquakes&Volcanos, electricity, structures, athletics and baking. 
We have our multiplication assessment is soon in June so we need to keep practising. 
Keep an eye out for regular photos to showcase our wonderful learning. 

WB 27.06.22 - We made our own maracas inspired by STOMP.

WB 20.06.22 - We have been investigating whether all liquids freeze and we were inspired by Sokari Douglas Camp’s sculptures.

WB 13.06.22 - a lovely FUDGE morning and an interesting Science experiment!

WB 06.06.22 - Starting back with Art week practising a mixture of techniques and rounders fun!

Our final week of Summer 1 and we celebrated with a whole school jubilee picnic as well as ticking off a footprint buying something from a shop!

WB 23.5.22 - our last athletics session, investigating triangles and our jubilee dance workshop!

What a busy week leaving more footprints from our first aid training and taking part in a Guinness World Record!

WB 2.5.22 - A short week but filled with hard work and great learning!

WB 25.4.22 - we enjoyed starting the Summer term off with constructing our own circuits, sprinting practise and pastel artwork of the Queen!

Spring Term


 

Welcome back Year 4 after hopefully a restful and joyful Christmas break. We have lots of exciting things planned for this term including sporting events, our Spring Soirée and going to Woodrow!

As well as these, in Literacy we are focusing on purposes and various genres of texts to develop our writing and focusing on Rivers and the Water cycle, building bridges and Yoga.

Tag rugby, logos and pavilions! What a week Year 4 have had...

Year 4 had an incredible trip to Woodrow. The highlights included the high ropes, nightline and food for sure.Some wonderful skills and memories gained.

World book day, pavilions and teeth experiments!

For feeling good week we enjoyed a special yoga session! We learned a yoga flow, breathing exercise and meditation.

WB 07.02.22 - We took a trip to the River Mimram to support our geographical knowledge before exploring further UK rivers. We also had a Mr Potato head competition to work in teams, build resilience and communicate effectively.

WB 31.01.21 - We put our curling skills into practise in maths as well as began our Chinese New Year celebrations!

We enjoyed showcasing all of our learning from Year 4 in our class assembly this week.

WB 24.01.22 - 8 of us were great at a Curling competition at Monks Walk this week, coming an amazing 2nd place!

This week we also enjoyed curling with Mr Williams and practical maths lessons

WB 17.01.21 - Australia! Our One World week has consisted of history, geography, science and lots of art based around Australia.

WB 10.01.21 - The children had great fun in forest school making a fire and discussing the safety rules! They have also been practising their indoor athletics events ready for upcoming competitions.

Autumn Term

 

To start the new school year, we have some very exciting things planned! Not only are we covering topics such as The Americas in Geography and Living things in Science, we will have lots of fun in PE with Premier sports and great music lessons with Mrs Cain. In Year 4, we will continue focusing on our times tables in Maths in preparation for our Multiplication check, as well as place value, shapes and more! In Literacy we will engage in many texts and explore our love of reading together. 

Don’t forget to look out for all of the great Marvellous Me celebrations!

 

We had a super, fun class party in Year 4 today, we even had a visit from Santa!

WB 06.12.21 - Christmas has well and truly began in Year 4 with lots of crafts, baking and fun!

WB 29.11.21 - Christmas fun has begun! We enjoyed a mixture of Christmas crafts, our new advent calendar and Christmas yoga.

A fun and exciting Children in Need!

WB 15.11.21 - we have been busy creating and performing HIIT circuits for the rest of the class

WB 8.11.21 - We enjoyed a lovely walk around our local area this week

We enjoyed creating lanterns with Simon ready for the Christmas Parade at the Town Centre in December!

WB 01.11.21 - We enjoyed ‘no pens day’ through performing poetry and debating about climate change this week. In PE we have started our new topic OAA focusing on teamwork and cooperation.

Buzz loves autumn!

WB 18.10.21 - In PE we enjoyed practising all of our fundamental skills such as balance, speed, agility, co-ordination and power through a series of stations.

WB 11.10.21 - Our art this week was inspired by Paul Cezanne techniques. We also enjoyed guessing the missing numbers and reading the Witches by Roald Dahl

WB 04.10.21 - We have had another fun filled week of learning

WB 27.09.21 - We have enjoyed creating our forest school headdresses and creating patterns in art.

WB 20.09.21 - Using our speed skills for Tag Rugby and exploring USA in whole class reading and geography

WB 13.09.21 - We have been testing our speed in PE and using classification keys in Science this week.
