Reception
Welcome to Reception.
Welcome to Reception. We are all very happy four and five year olds who have settled into school very quickly and are loving learning through play. We have lots of fun with our teachers Mrs Manly, Mrs Bohoran, Miss Smith, Miss Watts, and Miss McCreadie. We have been very busy learning new rules and routines and getting to know all the different areas within our indoor and outdoor classroom.
We find it easier to learn through exciting topics. This term we are thinking about “Animals” and “Toys”. Our teachers are very proud of us because we are planning our own learning and asking so many interesting and thoughtful questions.
Every morning we come into school keen and eager to learn and are soon very busy with lots of different activities. Every day we have a phonics lesson where we are learning the sounds and letter names of the alphabet. We often play games and sing songs to help us with our reading and writing. We also are very busy recognising numbers, learning the names of shapes and how to make exciting repeating patterns.
Reception are very lucky to have a lovely big outdoor area where we love to climb, explore and play with balls, ropes and balancing equipment. You are always very welcome to talk to the adults in the setting to find out how we are progressing with our learning.

Week beginning 12th July. Enjoying our Sports Day. We had great fun working together as a team.

Week beginning 21st June. We loved going for a walk with Year Four as a stimulus for our writing.

Week beginning 24th May. Improving our fine motor skills and using our phonic knowledge to write a story.
Week beginning 17th May. We all completed one of our Pathway pad goals this week by holding an animal!
Week beginning 10th May. We loved learning to play tennis with our visitor from Gosling Sports Centre.
Week behinning 3rd May. Exploring some aspects of Maths and learning about colour mixing.

Week beginning 19th April. We have been using magnifying glasses and learning how to label a daffodil. Look at our great work!
Week beginning 12th April. We have loved learning and exploring outside this week. We have also planted seeds and are waiting for them to grow.
Week beginning 22nd March. Look at our amazing writing about easter. We enjoyed tasting the happy and sad food that represents the Easter story.
Week beginning 15th March. Science week. We had great fun working together to make a boat for a pirate and his treasure and a den to keep a teddy safe in the sun.
